Biography

J. Lance Carter is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and of Heartland Bank. Mr. Carter joined the Company in 2001 and has served in several roles including Chief Credit Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Carter was named President of the Company in 2019 and President of Heartland Bank in January 2023. He was named CEO of both entities in May 2023. Mr. Carter led the Company’s IPO in 2019 and has been involved in all aspects of the Company’s acquisitions since 2006. Mr. Carter leads our executive team, providing guidance and direction on all initiatives. Mr. Carter holds a BS in Finance and an MBA from the University of Illinois. He has also completed the Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin—Madison. Mr. Carter serves on our board and on the board of Heartland Bank.
